Kick-off Ceremony: 3S MES Implementation at Z183 Factory – A Pioneer in Comprehensive Digital Transformation within the Defense Industry

On March 7, 2026, Mechanical Company 83 (Z183 Factory) and ITG Technology officially launched the project to implement the 3S MES (Manufacturing Execution System). This milestone confirms Z183’s position on the journey of modernization, laying the foundation for a model smart factory within the Defense Industry.

As a key defense enterprise under the General Department of Defense Industry, Z183 Factory is tasked with manufacturing and repairing various types of artillery ammunition; while also specializing in manufacturing packaging, ammunition preservation products, water industry products, and fire-fighting equipment for both domestic and export markets. With a large production scale and thousands of high-tech devices, maintaining precision and efficiency in every stage is a vital requirement. Therefore, in the context of Industry 4.0, enhancing management capacity through digital transformation has become a strategic priority for Z183 to maintain its position and affirm its competitiveness.

The 3S MES software system is the key “missing piece” to connect data from the production execution layer to the management center, eliminating data gaps on the shop floor. Once operational, 3S MES will help the Factory transparentize progress, minimize material waste, and optimize machine uptime. Instead of manual management methods, information on machine status, production plans, and finished product quality will be fully digitized, supporting leadership and the team of foremen in making fast, accurate executive decisions based on real-time data.

The application of MES may initially bring changes in the way of working, but in the long run, the system will help us work more professionally, transparently, and effectively. I hope each individual in the factory will actively learn and coordinate closely to complete the project together.”
